U.S. dollar retreats after the inauguration speech of Trump
NEW YORK, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar fell against other major currencies on Monday as investors were still digesting President Donald Trump's inauguration speech. There is no major economic report due on Monday. The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased 0.51 percent at 100.230 in late trading Monday. In late New York trading, the euro rose to 1.0739 dollars from 1.0708 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound climbed to 1.2494 dollars from 1.2397 U.S. dollars in the previous session. The Australian dollar increased to 0.7564 dollar from 0.7562 dollar. The U.S. dollar bought 113.03 Japanese yen, lower than 114.26 yen in the previous session. The U.S. dollar fell to 0.9990 Swiss francs from 1.0014 Swiss francs, and it edged down to 1.3265 Canadian dollars from 1.3309 Canadian dollars. |
